Graduated from Ukraine in 1990 with specialization in civil engineering. Have 20+ years working experience in water and sanitation sector in Nepal. Have recently completed two-year's tenure in an international consulting firm for research and technical assistance project for mainstreaming climate change risks in development in Nepal. Highly interested in grass root level research for climate change adaptation and resilience building in water, sanitation and livelihood sectors.

Climate change is happening and affecting all the spheres of human life and natural systems, particularly, in the rural areas where water and food security is already a prominent issue. There are simple technologies suitable for climate resilience and adaptation but they are yet to get widespread recognition and adoption by the rural communities and government institutions. For example, Ecological Sanitation (ECOSAN) and Rainwater Harvesting are easy to understand but difficult to adopt due to our conventional perception and livelihood practices. Widespread dissemination with pilot schemes will help the communities and local governments to understand better and  promote the technologies at the communities and households. Reaching to them needs a great effort by demonstrating simple and proven concepts that help to recycle the nutrients from human waste for agriculture and conserve the precious water and improve the food security situation as well.

My professional and personal efforts will be directed towards supporting for building and institutionalizing the promotion of climate smart practice and technologies at local level and provide practical feedback to the concerned institutions. Being a scholar of the water conservation technologies, I will try to help the rural poor communities understand better about the technologies and consequently strongly motivate them to use such systems for adaptation and livelihood improvement.
