Introduction to the Collaboratorium

Goal

The Climate Collaboratorium seeks to harness the collective intelligence of thousands of people around the world to address global climate change.

Inspired by systems like Wikipedia and Linux, the Collaboratorium is a global, on-line forum in which people can:

  • create,
  • analyze, and
  • select

detailed plans for what to do about climate change.

How it works

At the core of the Collaboratorium is an evolving collection of user-created Plans comprised of:
  • proposed actions we can take (such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions),
  • Models that project the impacts of the proposed actions,
  • anticipated impacts of the actions (such as future changes in the earth's temperature).

These plans are generated in Contests, where teams work together to create plans.

In addition, members of the Collaboratorium community can participate in Debates about issues relevant to climate change.
