Ryan Hottle is an instructor, research scientist, program manager, and consultant with a focus on the intersections of sustainable agriculture, soil science, food security, poverty, climate change and public policy. Ryan currently works for Ohio State University in the International Programs in Agriculture Office where he manages a USAID Program, as a consultant on climate-smart agriculture (CSA) for the World Bank, and as a consultant for Climate Change and Food Security (CCAFS) within the CGIAR research network on "pro-poor" and "gender-transformative" approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Ryan has spent time outside of the ivory tower in the private sphere as a market farmer, energy auditor, and renewable energy technician, and has received training and certificates as an Wilderness First Responder (WFR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and permaculture design. Dr. Hottle has degrees in Environmental Studies and Peace Studies from Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado (BA), Climate and Society from Columbia University, New York (MA) and Environmental Science from Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio (PhD).
